Help with a Dead End, William A. Muir

Just recently I have really been movtivated to know more about my ancestors, especially the Muir line. Unfortunately, my paternal line dead ends wrather quickly. Here is a brief outline.

Alicia Muir Hill born to
Stephen Phillip Muir born in Michigan to
Dale Eugene Muir born in Michigan to
Carlise Vector Muir born in Michigan to
Andrew Muir born in Michigan to
William A. Muir

That is where my line disappears. We cannot find any information on William, where he came from or his parents. William married Amoretta Izora ROBERTS and then left to claim land in the midwest, maybe Nebraska. We never hear anything about hime again. Unfortunately, William seems to be a common scottish name, but if anyone has any leads or ideas, I would be grateful.
