Dear John:

This will be VERY brief for now ... I can try to answer more thoroughly later. First, do you know for sure the name is spelled "M O O R E," or could it possibly have been spelled other ways? I have seen MUIR spelled in an almost unbelievable variety of ways (inc. MUIR, MURE, MORE, MUIRE, MOHR, MILLER, MYER, MOIR, MOIRE, MYHR, etc.). Some of these have been in my own line and in our mailbox. It's amazing what folks can do to only 4 letters. Also, if you could tell me more about them once they've been in the States, I'd be happy to look more for you. I already did a quick search on Family Search (the Mormon website) and it seems like 'most all of the John MOOREs about 1730 were b. in either England or Ireland.

Sincerely,
Randy

you can go to tribalpages.com and look at my family tree, once you get to the main page look on the lower left for a box that will let you look at trees and enter (ruthe) that will take you to my page which is (ruthe, bennett, jewison, zartman, moore). i have looked on family search also, they did not have much on this branch of my tree. john

heh randy, i was hopeing that one of the moores in scotland that is in the clan or that is known by a clan member might have a cousin or brother of their great or great-greatgrand parents that had the name jonathan who emigrated to america between 1730 and 1740. i have already found as much as i could on this here, and the (scottish people) web site does not have any matches either. john

Good afternoon. I won't be able to give you any more information about Jonathan Moore but you gave me information about his wife that I didn't know. I only had her first name. I claim my Moore heritage through Joel's brother John. Jonathan and Scythia had 3 children (John, Joel and David). John is my Great, Great, Great, Great, Great grandfather on my mother's side. I see from Clann Muir Online that you are the Convener for Alaska. I'm the HS for Kentucky. It's a small world isn't it. One of the days I hope to visit Monroe County's graveyard in KY where a lot of the Moore's are buried. I'll let you know if I turn up anything on Jonathon. Thank you for the information.
