Hi David, The picture is my great Aunt Elizabeth and my grandfather Archibald Muir. They were sent to Smith Bothel, Ontario from Pollokshaws , Scotland in 1887 as part of the Home Children Program. Parents who could not care for their children [mother died, father ill] sent them to Canada aboard the SS Siberian. They lived with the WW or WN Smith family. Archibald was later sent to live with The James Gamble family in British Columbia.

Hi David I have photoes from the mid 1800s and a baby pic of my dad dated Christmas 1899 so as you can see it has been in existance for a very long time. to get back to the search that I asked about a few weeks ago I have found more info on my GGG uncle Gavin Muir that moved to Arkansas but there the trail ends. I will dig further into the Manitoba MUir's as a lot moved there to Pilot mound wish me Scottish luck Marilyn
Hi Daviid great pics to be sure I am currently researching the women of our illustrious family (ha ha) but seriously am looking at the Abraham, Watt. Shaw and so many others. Have come across the Reid family tree and 2 Muir boys married into that family -have a genealogical map sent by snail mail from a cousin with all the dates and cross referances needed . That cut my research time down by weeks. Marilyn
thank you for the hello David. I look forward to hearing how you come along in following your heritage. I'm currently digging for information around Muirkirk, Ayr, Scotland in the early 1800's. Best wishes in your searching
