HI KATHRYN I AM ENJOYING YOUR SITE. I,M FROM THE OWEN SOUND, ONTARIO AREA IN GREY COUNTY. MOST OF MY ANCESTORS ARE FROM WIARTON ,ONTARIO . HUGH MUIR IS MY GREAT GRANDFATHER AND IS BURIED AT EDGE HILL CEMENTARY AT COLPOYS BAY NEAR WIARTON. GLAD TO SEE ANOTHER CANADIAN MUIR.. DAVE. GLAD TO HEAR FROM YOU ANY TIME...DAVE MUIR..

Hello from Canada

My Muir family line is through my grandmother Mary (May) Watson Muir who married Frank Alexander. Mary was born in 1906 in New Zealand near Christchurch and was raised with her three brothers William, John and James (Jimmy) in Glasgow, Scotland. Her Mom was Catherine Aitchison and her Dad was Alexander Watson Muir born in Shettleston, Scotland in 1868. Alexander's Mom was Mary Watson and his Dad was William Muir born in1840 in Dundonald, Ayr, Scotland. Williams Mom was Elizabeth Pickens born around 1816 in Dundonald and his Dad was James Muir born around 1816 in Muirkirk, Ayr, Scotland.

I have been doing some genealogy research and am stumbling with the information around Dundonald from the early 1800's and back.

I located some Muir cousins in Shettleston, Scotland in 2005 however they did not keep track of any ancestry.

Any information that anyone has would be helpful. I look forward to hearing about any Muir realtions.

Keen on Research

I'm looking for information about the birth etc of Alexander Watson Muir and have a possible lead in Muirkirk Ayr around 1816. Does anyone know anything about the Muirkirk history? I'll keep you all posted on what I learn in my history hunt.
